Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Machine (CPAP)

Passengers who wish to use their POC (Portable Oxygen Concentrator) and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Machines - used for sleep apnea), among others, on board, are accepted on TAP-operated flights as long as they don't have any other collateral health problem and will not be considered a medical case.

Contact TAP until 72 hours before flight and report:

  • report cardiac or respiratory-related diseases or the need for a wheelchair. If in such cases medical procedures must be adopted and the medical form (MEDIF) completed by the attending physician must be requested from the passenger or his / her representative so that the medical services of TAP will inform the conditions of acceptance of the passenger.

  • if the passenger declares that he/she has no concomitant illness and if the equipment is autonomous (running on its own battery during the whole trip), its use can be automatically confirmed, provided that it's one of the types of equipment already certified by TAP. An SSR CKIN with information on the type of equipment, brand, model, dimensions and weight must be inserted in the booking. Contact our Help Desk or Contact Center to provide this information.

  • if the device needs to be connected to the aeroplane's energy source, it can not always be confirmed, since there are inherent constraints to each type of aircraft and/or class/compartment. Contact our Help Desk and await a reply about the feasibility of use on board. The reply will be delivered 72 hours before the departure of the flight (at which time the specific aircraft to operate the route is known).

  • passengers who declare they shall not need to use the equipment on board but request transportation in the cabin can be informed that TAP accepts POC and CPAP as carry-on baggage, provided they are within the recommended limits for the hand baggage. Passengers must be holders of an original medical statement for presentation to airport authorities and/or airline representatives upon request.

If no collateral health condition exists and if using their own dry cell batteries, TAP will automatically confirm the following equipments:
